Skills and Experience Desired:
- Valid and current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Prior experience working with children or adolescents with hearing loss
- Strong knowledge of both auditory-oral and manual communication methods
- Ability to develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with students, staff, and families
- Adaptability to support various learning styles and environments
- A genuine passion for advocacy and student empowerment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing within school environments
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure each student’s needs are addressed in the academic setting
- Adapt general education curriculum materials and methodologies to suit individual needs
- Consult and train classroom teachers regarding adaptations and assistive technology
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
- Foster a supportive and inclusive environment for students to thrive
