You’ll travel between school sites, consulting and collaborating with school staff to develop and deliver customized interventions and accessible curriculum. If you’re a licensed educator also interested in a full-time schedule, there may be opportunities to expand your role into special education.
Key Qualifications:
- State certification/license as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with K-12 populations in school environments
- Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, total communication, and sign language approaches
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Adaptability and resourcefulness for itinerant (traveling between schools) assignments
- Special education credentials are a plus, especially if seeking a full-time opportunity
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across K-12 settings
- Conduct assessments, develop IEP goals, and track student progress
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers, staff, and families
- Advocate for accessible learning environments and ensure accommodations are implemented
- Offer training and consultative support to school personnel on best practices for DHH students
