Teacher of the Deaf in King, NC

Step into a meaningful role supporting students as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a school-based, contract position. Serve K-12 students across multiple campuses, providing both direct instruction and collaborative services as an itinerant educator. Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Teacher (DHH)
• Experience working with K-12 students in educational settings preferred
• Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instructional strategies
• Strong collaboration skills for consulting with general education teachers, interpreting teams, and support staff
• Flexibility to travel between school sites as required
• Willingness to expand into special education roles if fully licensed and seeking full-time hours

Primary Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct, individualized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting materials to meet varied learning styles and communication needs
• Implement and contribute to IEP processes, assessing progress and updating instructional strategies as necessary
• Consult with faculty and families to ensure accommodations and modifications are effective
• Facilitate access to classroom curriculum through support strategies that may include sign language, assistive listening devices, and visual aids
• Advocate for student inclusion and effective communication within school environments
• Engage actively in team meetings and ongoing professional development
