Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification)
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Deaf Education or a related field
  • Experience providing individualized educational support to students with hearing loss
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology and classroom accommodations
  • Ability to use sign language and other communication modalities as needed
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive educational atmosphere

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to meet the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other educators and family members
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to promote optimal learning
  • Provide consultation and training to school staff on best practices for accessible communication and learning
  • Advocate for student needs within the school setting and work to ensure equitable access to curriculum and activities
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional skills and stay current on best practices
