Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teacher - Lakewood, Washington

Qualifications:

• Valid and active Washington State teaching license with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Proven experience or training working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Ability to develop and adapt educational plans to suit diverse learning needs
• Understanding of assistive technology, communication modalities, and language development for DHH students
• Strong organizational skills and a collaborative approach to working with families and educational staff

Responsibilities:

• Provide tailored educational services to students with hearing differences across various grade levels
• Design and implement IEPs, using evidence-based strategies and accommodations
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and specialists to promote inclusive learning
• Monitor, assess, and document student progress to ensure academic and social growth
• Advocate for accessibility and participate in IEP/504 meetings as a DHH expert
• Communicate regularly with families to keep them informed and involved in student progress
