Inspire students and shape futures by bringing your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing to an engaging and supportive school environment in New Mexico. This full-time, onsite contract position offers the meaningful opportunity to work directly with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, fostering their growth and success during the 2026-2027 academic year.

Your contract will run from August 3, 2026, through May 20, 2027, ensuring you have a consistent and rewarding experience. As the go-to professional for this caseload (details are pending), you’ll play a vital role in supporting students’ language development, academic achievement, and social-emotional well-being.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid state teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in K-12 school settings
  • Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modes used by DHH students
  • Skilled in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to individual student needs
  • Collaborative mindset for working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and staff
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and advocacy skills

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in an onsite, inclusive, and/or pull-out setting
  • Adapt curriculum materials to meet individualized student goals and provide access to the general education environment
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with teachers, therapists, and families
  • Monitor student progress and maintain detailed records in compliance with school guidelines
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive school culture and promote awareness of Deaf/hard of hearing culture
