This role involves working on-site and supporting students across an entire county, providing services beyond just a single school. Your expertise will make a significant impact on approximately 30 students, some of whom utilize cochlear implants. As the primary on-site resource, you will collaborate with various educational teams and families to ensure exceptional support and communication access for every learner.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- California credential (or eligibility) as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Demonstrated experience teaching and supporting DHH students in school settings
- Familiarity with diverse communication modes including ASL, oral, and total communication
- Knowledge of technology and assistive devices, including cochlear implants
- Strong organizational skills to manage a multi-site caseload and flexible schedule
- Skilled at developing and implementing IEPs and tracking student progress
- Effective communicator and enthusiastic collaborator with staff and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support for DHH students across multiple schools in the county
- Serve as a vital educational consultant and resource for faculty and staff members
- Collaborate on IEPs, develop individualized goals, and monitor student outcomes
- Assist with classroom and environmental modifications to ensure access and inclusion
- Offer training and guidance on cochlear implants and other hearing technologies to students and staff
- Foster self-advocacy and communication skills in all learners
