Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in educational settings
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes used in DHH education
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to meet Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with varying degrees of hearing loss, using strategies and resources suited to their needs
  • Develop and implement IEPs in partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams
  • Advocate for accessible learning environments and appropriate accommodations within the school
  • Foster student growth in language, communication, literacy, and social-emotional skills
  • Provide training and support to staff and families, facilitating inclusion and understanding
  • Use assessment data to track progress and inform instructional decisions
