Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) | Lusby, Maryland

Empower students by bringing your expertise as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing to a supportive educational environment near Lusby, MD. In this contract position, you'll work with students with varying degrees of hearing loss, helping each achieve academic and personal growth through tailored instruction and advocacy.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
• Previous experience working with children who are deaf or hard of hearing in school settings preferred
• Strong communication skills, including proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities used by students
• Ability to create and adapt Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Skilled in collaborating with classroom teachers, speech language pathologists, audiologists, and families
• Passion for fostering an inclusive and accessible learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, individually and in small groups
• Develop, implement, and monitor progress on IEP goals
• Provide consultation and resources to general education staff to ensure accessibility and understanding
• Encourage the use of assistive technology and appropriate accommodations within the classroom
• Facilitate and support effective communication between students, peers, and staff
• Conduct ongoing assessments to inform instruction and report on student progress
• Offer guidance and support for families navigating educational options and resources
