Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) students
- Experience working with children or adolescents who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong skills in sign language (ASL or Signed English) and other communication modalities
- Understanding of educational modifications and assistive technology for hearing-impaired students
- Ability to work collaboratively with general education staff and related service providers
- Compassion, patience, and an enthusiasm for making learning accessible
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction tailored to each student’s communication and educational needs
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in partnership with multidisciplinary teams
- Adapt curriculum, provide classroom accommodations, and monitor student progress
- Advocate for appropriate resources and support for DHH students within the school
- Act as a liaison between students, teachers, parents, and support staff to enhance student success
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with state and federal guidelines
