Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification with Hearing Impaired or Deaf Education endorsement
- Previous experience working in a school setting or with children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or a related field
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing in accordance with IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to create inclusive learning experiences
- Assess student progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed
- Foster a supportive, communicative atmosphere that encourages student participation and self-advocacy
- Maintain accurate student records and participate in IEP meetings, multidisciplinary teams, and professional development activities
