As a DHH Consultant, your specialized expertise will empower schools to create accessible, inclusive learning experiences and ensure that students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing reach their fullest potential.
Desired Experience & Skills:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or equivalent credentials
- In-depth knowledge of best practices, assistive technologies & strategies in DHH education
- Experience working as a consultant or teacher for students with hearing loss, preferably in a school setting
- Skilled in providing professional development and collaborating with school staff & families
- Strong communication and advocacy skills
- Understanding of relevant special education laws, including IDEA and Section 504
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult with educators, administrators, and families to support the unique learning needs of students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Conduct assessments, interpret results, and recommend accommodations or interventions
- Guide teams on IEP and 504 plan development and implementation
- Provide training and resources to school staff regarding hearing loss and related instructional strategies
- Stay up to date with current trends and research to champion student success
- Foster self-advocacy and communication skills for students
