Make a meaningful difference in students' lives as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH Consultant) on a contract basis, supporting schools in the area near Manchester, MI. This part-time opportunity—approximately 3-4 days per week—for the 2026-2027 school year offers a rewarding way to share your expertise and help empower students with hearing differences.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
  • Demonstrated experience working in school settings with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students.
  • Strong understanding of IEP processes and ability to develop, implement, and track individualized plans.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with school staff, students, and families.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and best practices in DHH instruction.
  • Flexibility to travel between sites as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultative support and direct services to students with hearing loss across assigned schools.
  • Collaborate with general and special education staff to support inclusive instruction and address student needs.
  • Conduct assessments to determine eligibility and educational impact of hearing differences.
  • Advise on and help implement accommodations, modifications, and the use of assistive listening devices.
  • Contribute to the development and review of IEPs and participate in team meetings.
  • Coach and provide training for teachers and staff on DHH-related topics and accessibility.
