What We’re Looking For:

  • Active certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state credentials required)
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, in mainstream or specialized classroom settings
  • Strong understanding of deaf education best practices, including direct instruction, language development, and assistive technology
  • Ability to develop and adapt instructional materials based on individual student needs
  • Proficiency in sign language (ASL or other as appropriate), and effective communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
  • Flexible, collaborative approach with a passion for inclusive education

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing impairments, individually and in small groups
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create accessible learning environments
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, progress monitoring, and data-driven instruction
  • Advocate for students’ needs and facilitate their inclusion in the educational community
  • Support families with resources, strategies, and guidance for student success
  • Promote awareness and understanding of hearing impairments among school staff and peers
