Make a meaningful impact by supporting students with hearing differences across the county. In this contracted Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing position, you’ll provide vital educational services to approximately 30 students, ensuring they receive a high-quality, accessible education. You'll travel to various sites within the county, working hands-on with students, educators, and families to foster a supportive learning environment.
Key Qualifications & Skills:
- Credentialed Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students who have cochlear implants is a plus
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Flexibility and adaptability to travel to multiple school locations within the county
- Dedication to individualized instruction and creating an accessible educational experience
What You'll Do:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultation to students with hearing loss at various sites
- Assess students’ needs and adapt lessons or materials based on individual education plans (IEPs)
- Work closely with classroom teachers and other staff to modify curriculum and classroom environments
- Provide guidance regarding the use and care of amplification devices, including cochlear implants
- Serve as a resource for families, supporting their understanding of educational options and accommodations
- Maintain thorough documentation and progress reports for each student on your caseload
