Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or ability to obtain)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
- Experience with American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Familiarity with IEPs, progress monitoring, and adaptive curriculum development
- Strong interpersonal abilities to engage students, families, and staff
- Organizational and documentation skills required for compliance and progress reporting
- Commitment to cultural competence and inclusion
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to d/Deaf and hard of hearing students, adapting curriculum as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accessible learning environments
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
- Communicate regularly with families and interdisciplinary teams regarding student progress
- Offer consultative guidance to staff on accommodations, modifications, and strategies
- Serve as a resource for training and advocacy in supporting students’ communication needs
