The ideal candidate brings creativity, patience, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing. You'll create accessible learning environments, advocate for your students, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure each child thrives both academically and socially.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state certification for Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Prior experience working with students with hearing impairments in an educational setting
  • Strong communication skills, both spoken and sign language (ASL proficiency preferred)
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse needs
  • Collaborative spirit to work with other educators, families, and support staff
  • Excellent documentation and organizational abilities

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with hearing loss
  • Develop and implement IEPs, monitor progress, and adjust teaching plans as needed
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment promoting self-advocacy and independence
  • Act as a resource for general educators regarding strategies and accommodations
  • Use technology and assistive devices to maximize access and participation
  • Engage in ongoing professional growth and district initiatives
