Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid state licensure/certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or ability to obtain)
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • Experience with American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
  • Familiarity with IEPs, progress monitoring, and adaptive curriculum development
  • Strong interpersonal abilities to engage students, families, and staff
  • Organizational and documentation skills required for compliance and progress reporting
  • Commitment to cultural competence and inclusion

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to d/Deaf and hard of hearing students, adapting curriculum as needed
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to ensure accessible learning environments
  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
  • Communicate regularly with families and interdisciplinary teams regarding student progress
  • Offer consultative guidance to staff on accommodations, modifications, and strategies
  • Serve as a resource for training and advocacy in supporting students’ communication needs
