Step into a rewarding role supporting students with hearing impairments as a full-time Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. This contract position offers the opportunity to work closely with students across various school sites, ensuring access to individualized instruction and advocacy within general education environments.

As an itinerant teacher, you'll collaborate with staff and families, traveling between schools within the district to provide specialized educational support. You’ll make a meaningful impact every day, fostering communication development and educational achievement for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching credentials with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) required
  • Experience working with DHH students, preferably in a school-based setting
  • Strong understanding of auditory devices, communication modes (sign language, oral, total communication), and adaptive strategies
  • Ability to tailor teaching methods and materials to fit individual needs
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
  • Willingness and ability to travel between multiple campuses within the district

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct services and consultation for students with hearing loss, supporting academic and communication goals
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure accommodations, modifications, and accessible learning opportunities
  • Conduct functional listening assessments and contribute to IEP development and progress monitoring
  • Serve as an advocate for students, fostering self-advocacy and awareness
  • Offer staff training and guidance on deaf education and assistive technologies
  • Maintain thorough documentation in accordance with district and state requirements
