Key Attributes and Qualifications:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
  • Proven experience or strong training in DHH educational settings
  • Knowledge of various communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
  • Ability to adapt lessons and materials to diverse learning needs
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment

Daily Responsibilities Include:

  • Delivering individualized and group instruction using evidence-based strategies
  • Collaborating closely with general and special education teachers to support student integration
  • Developing and implementing IEPs tailored to each student’s educational and communication needs
  • Keeping accurate records and documenting student progress
  • Partnering with parents, audiologists, and speech-language pathologists to promote student development
  • Utilizing and recommending appropriate assistive technology and classroom modifications
  • Attending professional development and ongoing training as needed
