Key Attributes and Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Proven experience or strong training in DHH educational settings
- Knowledge of various communication methods, including American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong collaboration and communication skills for working with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials to diverse learning needs
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment
Daily Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction using evidence-based strategies
- Collaborating closely with general and special education teachers to support student integration
- Developing and implementing IEPs tailored to each student’s educational and communication needs
- Keeping accurate records and documenting student progress
- Partnering with parents, audiologists, and speech-language pathologists to promote student development
- Utilizing and recommending appropriate assistive technology and classroom modifications
- Attending professional development and ongoing training as needed
