Make an impact guiding and supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing in a contract position near Memphis, TN. This role centers on fostering an inclusive learning environment and empowering students with hearing differences to achieve academic and social success.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid state teaching certification or eligibility, with endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Deaf Education, Special Education, or relevant field
  • Proficiency with various communication modalities (American Sign Language, oral/aural methods, Cued Speech, etc.)
  • Familiarity with IEP process and ability to adapt or modify curriculum to individual student needs
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaboration skills
  • Prior experience in a school setting preferred

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Deliver specialized instruction for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in classroom and/or resource settings
  • Assess receptive, expressive, and academic needs, and contribute to the development of IEP goals
  • Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, and families to support integration and student progress
  • Advocate for student accessibility and communicate strategies for inclusion with school staff
  • Participate in IEP meetings, maintain documentation, and provide ongoing progress reporting
  • Support and educate peers, staff, and families about Deaf culture and communication needs
