Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active Special Education teaching certification in Hearing Impairment (HI)
- Experience working with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing in a school environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families
- Dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning atmosphere
- Commitment to individualized instruction utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to meet the unique needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with families and school teams
- Utilize appropriate assistive technologies and communication methods, such as American Sign Language (ASL), as needed
- Advocate for student access and inclusion in academic and extracurricular settings
- Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting strategies to ensure optimal learning outcomes
- Serve as a resource for staff and families regarding hearing loss, accessibility, and educational best practices
