Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Current certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience working in educational settings with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong understanding of assistive technology and accommodations for hearing impairments
  • Ability to communicate effectively using American Sign Language (ASL) is highly preferred
  • Skilled at developing and adapting individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Compassionate, flexible, and committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, using a variety of communication modalities
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify and adapt curriculum to meet student needs
  • Conduct assessments and track student progress on educational goals
  • Advocate for students’ access and inclusion throughout the school day
  • Consult with families, school staff, and related service professionals to provide strategies and resources
  • Attend and participate in IEP meetings; contribute expertise regarding hearing loss and educational access
