Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (TDHH) - Metairie, Louisiana

As a Teacher for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, you will work collaboratively with students, families, and school staff to enhance learning experiences, foster communication, and promote social-emotional growth for every child. This contract position is located in a welcoming school community near Metairie, LA.

Key Qualifications:

• Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education (or eligibility to obtain)
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities used by students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing
• Experience adapting instructional materials for varying levels of hearing ability
• Ability to create differentiated educational plans to meet individualized student goals
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
• Passion for advocating for student access and success within educational settings

Primary Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver specialized instruction based on individual education programs (IEPs)
• Assess student progress and adjust teaching methods to optimize learning outcomes
• Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure inclusive and accessible classroom environments
• Provide resources and training to school staff regarding best practices in supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
• Integrate assistive technology and other tools to enhance communication and learning
• Monitor and document progress toward IEP goals, preparing detailed reports for meetings and compliance
