An opportunity is available for a qualified Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing to provide specialized instruction in the New Orleans, LA area. This full-time, contract position offers an engaging environment focused on supporting students with hearing impairments.

Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering individualized and group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting materials and teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs
  • Collaborating with classroom teachers, therapists, and families to develop and implement IEPs and communication strategies
  • Monitoring student progress and maintaining accurate records of educational performance and accommodations
  • Using appropriate assistive technology and communication systems to facilitate learning
  • Participating in professional development and school team meetings as required

Qualifications:

  • Active Louisiana Department of Education teaching certification specifically in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing; candidates with 0-10+ years of relevant experience are encouraged to apply
  • Ability to pass district-required drug screening and fingerprinting
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive educational environment

Schedule & Location:

  • Full-time, 35 hours per week (7 hours per day, Monday through Friday, plus unpaid 30-minute lunch) aligned with the school calendar
  • Location: Metairie, Louisiana, serving the surrounding New Orleans area
