Make an impact supporting students as a passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a part-time contract role for the 26/27 school year. Serve learners from PreK through age 22, working approximately 16-18 hours per week. Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Experience supporting students ranging from early childhood through transition-aged young adults
- Strong understanding of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language, oral/aural, or total communication approaches
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Effective collaboration skills for working with school staff, families, and service providers
- Passion for cultural and linguistic diversity within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community
- Previous school-based experience preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to the individual needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
- Adapt curriculum and materials to enhance accessibility and comprehension
- Collaborate with general educators, therapists, and paraprofessionals to create inclusive learning environments
- Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
- Advocate for student needs and support self-advocacy skills
- Offer consultation and training for staff and families as appropriate
