Make an impact supporting students as a passionate Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in a part-time contract role for the 26/27 school year. Serve learners from PreK through age 22, working approximately 16-18 hours per week. This rewarding position is ideal for educators dedicated to fostering communication and inclusive education within the school community.

Qualifications:

  • Valid Massachusetts teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Experience supporting students ranging from early childhood through transition-aged young adults
  • Strong understanding of various communication modalities, including American Sign Language, oral/aural, or total communication approaches
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
  • Effective collaboration skills for working with school staff, families, and service providers
  • Passion for cultural and linguistic diversity within the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community
  • Previous school-based experience preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored to the individual needs of Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Adapt curriculum and materials to enhance accessibility and comprehension
  • Collaborate with general educators, therapists, and paraprofessionals to create inclusive learning environments
  • Monitor student progress, maintain documentation, and participate in IEP meetings
  • Advocate for student needs and support self-advocacy skills
  • Offer consultation and training for staff and families as appropriate
