This rewarding contract opportunity calls for a dedicated professional to support students from PreK through age 22 in a dynamic educational environment near Methuen, MA. You'll provide tailored instruction, guidance, and advocacy for learners who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing certification or eligibility
- Experience working with students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing across a range of ages and grade levels
- Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities used by DHH students
- Ability to collaborate effectively with general education staff, families, and related service providers
- Familiarity with developing, implementing, and monitoring IEPs for DHH students
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with hearing loss, adapting and modifying curriculum as needed
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP development for each student served
- Recommend and model strategies and accommodations for classroom teachers, helping them ensure an inclusive classroom environment
- Serve as a resource for families and staff regarding communication techniques, assistive technology, and educational best practices for DHH learners
- Maintain detailed records and track student progress, sharing information with relevant stakeholders
This part-time position requires 16-18 hours per week and offers a flexible, supportive environment where your expertise truly matters.
