Grades 6 - 8 Grades K - 5 Teacher of the Deaf in Middletown, NY

This contract opportunity, starting immediately and extending through the remainder of the school year (with potential for extension), offers the chance to make a meaningful difference while working a consistent weekday schedule.

In this role, you’ll provide specialized instruction and support, designing tailored lesson plans to foster academic and social success for students in grades K–12. Your schedule will run from Monday through Friday, 8am–4pm, with a caseload of approximately 20–30 sessions weekly. Flexibility is key, as your support may be needed at several locations—typically 2–3, but occasionally up to 8—allowing you to engage a diverse student population.

Key Qualifications:

• NY State Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Certificate (required)
• Demonstrated experience with D/HH students ages K–12
• Ability to adapt instructional methods to different learning needs and environments
• Strong communication skills with students, families, and staff

Responsibilities:

• Deliver individualized and small-group instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Collaborate with general and special education teachers to support inclusion and student success
• Develop and maintain progress documentation, IEPs, and lesson planning
• Provide consultative support to educators and families as needed
• Travel between assigned sites (mileage typically reimbursed)
