Step into a meaningful role empowering students across multiple grade levels as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing. This contract position offers the opportunity to work with children from Kindergarten through 12th grade for the remainder of the current school year, with the possibility of extension. You’ll be supporting a diverse caseload, offering up to 30 sessions per week at various nearby school locations—maximizing your impact and developing a variety of connections with both students and school teams.
Your week will consist of full-time hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, allowing for a stable routine and the chance to truly engage with your caseload. While you may work with as few as two sites, up to eight schools are possible, providing both variety and the chance to collaborate with many educational professionals.
Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current NY State Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Certificate is required
- Experience working with students in Grades K-12 (elementary through high school)
- Ability to establish rapport with diverse learner profiles and needs
- Strong collaboration skills to coordinate with multiple school teams
- Adaptable to traveling between assigned school locations
- Effective communication and organization skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students across assigned grade levels
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals and student progress
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, resource professionals, and families
- Adjust instruction based on student needs and learning styles
- Participate in IEP meetings and district professional development as required
