Qualifications & Skills:
- Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or relevant teaching credentials
- Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities for deaf/hard of hearing students
- Strong collaboration skills to work with general educators, specialists, and families
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Passion for creating inclusive, supportive, and accessible learning environments
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and academic support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Design lessons tailored to individual student learning styles and communication needs
- Assess student progress, adapt curriculum, and provide recommendations or modifications as needed
- Partner with classroom teachers and school staff to foster success in general classroom settings
- Maintain regular communication with students’ families regarding progress and goals
- Ensuring legal compliance with all IEP documents, evaluations, and state/federal mandates
