Qualifications & Skills:

  • Valid certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education or relevant teaching credentials
  • Experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing, preferably in a school setting
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities for deaf/hard of hearing students
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with general educators, specialists, and families
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Passion for creating inclusive, supportive, and accessible learning environments

Responsibilities:

  • Deliver direct instruction and academic support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Design lessons tailored to individual student learning styles and communication needs
  • Assess student progress, adapt curriculum, and provide recommendations or modifications as needed
  • Partner with classroom teachers and school staff to foster success in general classroom settings
  • Maintain regular communication with students’ families regarding progress and goals
  • Ensuring legal compliance with all IEP documents, evaluations, and state/federal mandates
