Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Specialized training or degree in Deaf Education or related field
- Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a school setting preferred
- Strong skills in differentiating instruction and adapting curriculum
- Familiarity with assistive technology and communication tools (e.g., FM systems, ASL)
- Excellent interpersonal abilities to engage with students, staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
- Adapt and deliver instruction using American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes appropriate to each student
- Collaborate with mainstream teachers to modify curriculum and monitor student progress
- Advocate for student access and inclusion within classroom and school environments
- Partner with families and support staff to foster holistic student growth
- Maintain accurate student records and progress reports
