Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Specialized training or degree in Deaf Education or related field
  • Experience working with Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in a school setting preferred
  • Strong skills in differentiating instruction and adapting curriculum
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and communication tools (e.g., FM systems, ASL)
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities to engage with students, staff, and families

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students
  • Adapt and deliver instruction using American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modes appropriate to each student
  • Collaborate with mainstream teachers to modify curriculum and monitor student progress
  • Advocate for student access and inclusion within classroom and school environments
  • Partner with families and support staff to foster holistic student growth
  • Maintain accurate student records and progress reports
