Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid credential in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education
- Experience working with students who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have related communication challenges
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or alternative communication methods
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom atmosphere
- Ability to adapt lessons and materials according to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, guiding them toward educational success
- Utilize ASL or other communication modalities as needed to ensure access to the curriculum
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans and maintain accurate assessment records
- Act as an educational advocate, providing resources and support to empower families
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and related service providers
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to goal-setting and progress monitoring
