Step into a meaningful role supporting elementary students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing on a contract basis for the upcoming fall semester. This part-time position, based near Morrisville, PA and working in Philadelphia, offers a rewarding opportunity to empower students with hearing differences to achieve their fullest potential. With a caseload of 14-15 elementary-aged students, your skills will make a direct and lasting impact.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or related credentials.
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students, especially those with hearing impairments.
  • Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and ability to adapt instruction to diverse learning needs.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and other educators.
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is highly valued.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and educational support to elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans tailored to individual learning styles and communication preferences.
  • Maintain regular progress monitoring and update IEP goals as needed.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to foster inclusive learning environments.
  • Advocate for accessibility, accommodations, and the unique needs of each student.
  • Participate in school meetings and contribute to ongoing professional development.
