This full-time, onsite contract opportunity calls for a dedicated professional to serve as an itinerant Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Working within both a middle school and two elementary schools, you’ll collaborate closely with staff, families, and students to help foster inclusive learning environments and positive outcomes.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) endorsement required
- Experience working with school-age children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Flexibility to manage a split caseload across multiple school sites
- Commitment to fostering student achievement and inclusion
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support and consultative services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and other professionals
- Engage with families to communicate progress and share strategies for student success
- Travel between assigned middle school and elementary schools to deliver services
- Support the ongoing adaptation of curriculum and classroom environments
