Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification with an endorsement in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility to obtain
  • Previous experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing (preferred but not required)
  • Strong skills in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication modalities
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to student needs
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
  • Positive attitude with adaptability to a dynamic educational environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Adapt and modify curriculum materials to enhance accessibility and comprehension
  • Partner with general and special education staff to support inclusion in the classroom
  • Conduct assessments and contribute to the development and review of IEPs
  • Offer guidance and resources to families and fellow educators regarding hearing loss and accommodations
  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports in accordance with school guidelines
