Key Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience working with students with hearing impairments in a school setting
- Strong understanding of various communication modes, including ASL, oral and cued speech, and total communication
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Commitment to student advocacy and inclusive practices
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adapting materials to meet individual learning needs
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to facilitate student inclusion and success
- Conduct assessments to monitor student progress, adjusting strategies as needed
- Advocate for student accommodations, technology, and resources
- Support families in understanding their child's educational needs and goals
- Participate in IEP meetings and keep accurate documentation
