Qualifications and Desired Experience:

  • Hold a valid state teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) or eligibility to obtain one.
  • Experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in school settings is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of various communication modes and auditory/oral methodologies.
  • Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and commitment to meeting each student’s unique needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and consultative services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, individually and in group settings.
  • Develop and deliver lesson plans that accommodate varied learning styles and communication needs.
  • Evaluate student progress, maintain records, and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Support classroom teachers, staff, and families by providing strategies and resources to promote student success.
  • Advocate for students and educate the school community about hearing differences.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and caregivers regarding student progress and needs.
