This opportunity is for a dedicated Teacher specializing in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students, serving grades K-12 in a supportive school environment. This contract position is set for the current school year and is based in New Paltz, NY. The role is ideal for educators passionate about making a positive impact on students' learning experiences by addressing the unique needs of the DHH community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver tailored instruction to K-12 students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, using appropriate communication methods and educational strategies.
  • Develop, implement, and adapt Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust teaching methods to ensure effective learning outcomes.
  • Foster an inclusive classroom environment that promotes the social and academic growth of all students.
  • Collaborate with parents, speech therapists, audiologists, and other professionals to support each student's educational journey.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with all relevant educational regulations and standards.

Desired Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing.
  • Experience working with K-12 students in an educational setting.
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and communication methods such as sign language or cued speech.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with students, families, and educational teams.
