This contract role offers a dynamic workday serving students across grades K–12 and the opportunity to collaborate with various educational teams for the remainder of the school year—and possibly beyond.
Your expertise will be essential in providing specialized education and empowering students to reach academic and personal goals. The position begins immediately and follows a Monday through Friday, 8am–4pm schedule (37.5 hours weekly), creating a structured routine during the school week. You’ll benefit from a varied caseload, typically managing approximately 20–30 sessions weekly, and will rotate between 2–8 different sites (final count determined by need), offering plenty of professional variety.
Qualifications:
- Valid New York Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Certificate required
- Experience working with students in grades K–12, with flexibility to adapt to various age groups
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to providing inclusive, student-centered instruction
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to deaf and hard of hearing students in individual and small group settings
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet IEP goals for diverse learners
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and attendance
- Consult and collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families
- Travel between assigned school sites as scheduled
