Step into a rewarding role supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, working with grades K-12 in a dynamic school setting. This contract opportunity begins immediately and extends through the remainder of the school year, with the possibility to continue beyond. You'll collaborate closely with educators, families, and staff to empower students to access their fullest potential.

Schedule flexibility is built into this position, with standard hours Monday through Friday, 8am–4pm, totaling 37.5 hours per week. Your day will consist of approximately 20-30 instructional sessions per week, depending on caseload, and you'll travel between 2–8 locations within the region to best meet student needs.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hold current NYS Deaf and Hard of Hearing Teaching Certificate (required)
  • Experience supporting students across K-12, especially in inclusive and resource settings
  • Strong knowledge of appropriate communication strategies, accommodations, and technology for DHH students
  • Ability to develop and implement individualized educational programs (IEPs)
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and service teams
  • Organizational skills to coordinate schedules for multiple sites
  • Adaptability and readiness to support varying student caseloads

In this role, responsibilities include:

  • Providing direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, in both one-to-one and group settings
  • Coordinating with classroom teachers and ancillary professionals to ensure access to curriculum
  • Consulting on assistive technology and classroom modifications
  • Monitoring student progress and documenting outcomes
  • Participating in IEP meetings and parent conferences
