What you’ll bring:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state-specific credentials required)
• Experience with individualized education programs (IEPs) and knowledge of IDEA
• Familiarity with various assistive listening devices and classroom accommodations
• Strong communication skills with students, staff, and families
• Understanding of American Sign Language (ASL) or other communication modalities used with students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Ability to develop diverse instructional strategies and adapt to varying student needs
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom culture

Core responsibilities:

• Provide direct instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across multiple grade levels
• Develop, implement, and monitor IEPs and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
• Adapt curriculum materials to students’ communication and learning needs
• Offer consultation and support to classroom teachers and staff for best practices in accessibility
• Facilitate effective communication between students, families, and school personnel
• Conduct assessments and maintain accurate student records
• Participate in professional development and stay current with trends in deaf education
