Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Proven experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
  • Strong knowledge of various communication methods, including sign language and assistive technology
  • Exceptional collaboration skills for partnering with educators, families, and support staff
  • Commitment to creating inclusive and accessible instructional materials
  • Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field preferred

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs
  • Deliver instruction using a range of modalities, adapting lessons to accommodate varying communication preferences
  • Advocate for students’ academic and social success in both classroom and extracurricular settings
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, interpreters, and families to promote student progress
  • Conduct assessments and monitor outcomes, making recommendations for additional support when necessary
  • Support students in self-advocacy and social skill development
