Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Proven experience working with students who are deaf or hard of hearing in an educational setting
- Strong knowledge of various communication methods, including sign language and assistive technology
- Exceptional collaboration skills for partnering with educators, families, and support staff
- Commitment to creating inclusive and accessible instructional materials
- Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to students’ unique needs
- Deliver instruction using a range of modalities, adapting lessons to accommodate varying communication preferences
- Advocate for students’ academic and social success in both classroom and extracurricular settings
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, interpreters, and families to promote student progress
- Conduct assessments and monitor outcomes, making recommendations for additional support when necessary
- Support students in self-advocacy and social skill development
