Make a difference in the lives of elementary students as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing in the greater Philadelphia area. This rewarding contract position focuses on supporting young learners with hearing challenges, guiding them toward academic and social success during the upcoming fall semester. You’ll provide tailored instruction to a caseload of 14-15 elementary-aged students, ensuring that their diverse needs are met through innovative and compassionate teaching.

Key Qualifications:

  • Valid certification to teach Deaf and Hard of Hearing students
  • Degree in Deaf Education, Special Education, or a related field
  • Experience working with elementary-aged students in educational settings
  • Strong knowledge of auditory/oral, total communication, or ASL approaches
  • Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and school staff
  • Familiarity with assistive listening technology and classroom accommodations

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop personalized lesson plans and adapt curriculum for Deaf and Hard of Hearing learners
  • Provide direct instruction and support that addresses individual learning styles and communication needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, speech-language pathologists, and support staff to foster inclusive environments
  • Maintain student records, including progress reports and IEP documentation
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student goals, strategies, and progress
  • Attend scheduled early dismissals on Mondays and Wednesdays as part of the part-time schedule
