This full-time role (37.5 hours per week) spans both elementary and secondary grades across a district, providing a chance to contribute in a variety of educational settings. The position offers para support to ensure you can focus on effective, individualized instruction. In-person and virtual (VOCO) candidates are both encouraged to apply, allowing for flexibility in work style.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
- Experience supporting students with hearing impairments in educational settings
- Strong knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) and other communication modalities
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff, parents, and support personnel
- Comfortable working across elementary and secondary levels
- Adaptable to changing caseloads and environments
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing district-wide
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in cooperation with multidisciplinary teams
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers to promote student success and access to curriculum
- Support and train staff on best practices for inclusion, technology, and communication access
- Participate in meetings, professional development, and ongoing assessments
- Utilize technology and accommodations to address students' unique learning needs
