Responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering customized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to create inclusive learning environments
- Utilizing assistive technology, sign language, and auditory/oral approaches as appropriate for each student
- Adapting curriculum and assessment methods to meet individual communication and learning needs
- Monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with families and IEP teams
- Providing advocacy and resources to promote student access and success within the school setting
Key qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential or eligibility to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in California
- Proven experience or specialized training in Deaf Education
- Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication methods
- Strong skills in collaboration, flexibility, and creative problem-solving
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and multidisciplinary teams
