Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Oakland, CA

Responsibilities include:

• Developing and delivering customized instruction to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff to create inclusive learning environments
• Utilizing assistive technology, sign language, and auditory/oral approaches as appropriate for each student
• Adapting curriculum and assessment methods to meet individual communication and learning needs
• Monitoring student progress, maintaining accurate records, and communicating effectively with families and IEP teams
• Providing advocacy and resources to promote student access and success within the school setting

Key qualifications:

• Valid teaching credential or eligibility to teach Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in California
• Proven experience or specialized training in Deaf Education
• Proficiency with American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other relevant communication methods
• Strong skills in collaboration, flexibility, and creative problem-solving
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and multidisciplinary teams
