Make a meaningful difference supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a vibrant educational community near Oakland, CA! This is an onsite, full-time contract role running from August 10, 2026, through June 4, 2027, providing services across multiple school sites. You’ll have the unique opportunity to deliver direct, in-person support for Deaf and Hard of Hearing students, enhancing access to education and fostering independence.
What we’re looking for:
- Valid DHH certification/license in California
- Prior experience working in CA schools highly preferred
- Strong organizational skills paired with clear, collaborative communication
- Ability to work effectively across multiple campuses as an itinerant DHH specialist
- Comfort supporting students in person (not virtual/remote)
- Commitment to professional, empathetic service and inclusive education
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering specialized, individualized instruction to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in person
- Consulting and collaborating with general education teachers and staff across multiple schools
- Developing and implementing IEP goals, adapting curriculum as needed
- Communicating regularly with families, staff, and related service providers
- Traveling between schools to ensure comprehensive support for students on your caseload
- Maintaining timely and accurate documentation, progress notes, and compliance tasks
