Empower students to succeed by providing specialized education and support as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing at a vibrant school near Oakland, CA. This contract role allows you to make a meaningful difference for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, building their communication skills and confidence in an inclusive learning environment.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid state licensure and credential for Deaf/Hard of Hearing teaching (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Experience working with students in K-12 settings who are deaf or have hearing loss
  • Proficiency in sign language (ASL or other accepted systems)
  • Strong collaboration skills for working with educators, families, and service providers
  • Adaptability to tailor instruction for diverse learning needs
  • Excellent communication and advocacy abilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver engaging Individualized Education Program (IEP)-driven instruction for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Utilize a range of communication modalities and assistive technologies as needed
  • Collaborate with general educators to create accessible classroom experiences
  • Conduct assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students and their families
  • Provide input for IEP meetings and develop meaningful educational goals
  • Foster an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive classroom climate

Compensation for this position ranges from $37.71 to $57.71. Eligible candidates may also receive healthcare benefits, housing, and meals/incidentals. Full details of our healthcare benefits plan can be found here. This posting is open for 60 days after the posting date.
