Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing or eligibility for state licensure
  • Experience working with children in educational settings, preferably with Deaf/Hard of Hearing populations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Familiarity with various modes of communication, including American Sign Language (ASL), spoken English, or auditory/oral approaches
  • Ability to develop and adapt lesson plans to meet individual student needs
  • Commitment to collaboration with educators, parents, and support staff

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with hearing loss according to educational plans
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive, individualized support
  • Assess students’ progress and communicate results with families and colleagues
  • Adapt curriculum materials and learning environments to maximize accessibility and participation
  • Offer strategies and in-service training to classroom teachers and staff
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for students, promoting inclusivity within the school community
