Teacher of the Deaf in Ocean Springs, MS

In this engaging contract role, you’ll play a vital part in tailoring instruction and promoting accessible communication for students while working closely with teachers, families, and support teams.

Qualifications and Desired Experience:

• Valid certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of Hearing (as required by state regulations)
• Experience providing specialized instruction and support for students with hearing loss
• Familiarity with assistive listening devices, FM systems, and other technology
• Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
• Strong collaboration skills to partner with multidisciplinary teams, general education staff, and families
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) preferred, or a willingness to learn/adapt communication methods as needed
• Organizational skills and adaptability within dynamic school environments

Responsibilities:

• Deliver direct instruction and support services to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailored to their academic and communication needs
• Collaborate with teachers to adapt curriculum, materials, and instructional strategies for accessibility
• Conduct assessments, track progress, and participate in IEP meetings
• Assist with training staff on effective communication strategies and auditory technologies
