An exciting contract opportunity is available for a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the vibrant community near Ocean Springs, MS. In this role, you’ll work with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, empowering them to develop their communication, academic, and social skills.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (or eligibility for certification)
- Experience working with school-aged children, preferably in a public or private educational setting
- A strong foundation in auditory/oral, total communication, or bilingual-bicultural methods
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learner needs
- An inclusive mindset and passion for helping every student reach their fullest potential
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students with hearing loss, both in individual and group settings
- Assess student progress and adapt educational goals as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, speech-language pathologists, and support staff
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide input on accommodations and modifications
- Partner closely with families to foster productive school-home communication
- Advocate for the inclusion and success of students who are Deaf/Hard of Hearing throughout the school community
