Seeking a skilled professional to work with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within a supportive school environment near Olympia, WA. Key Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility for state licensure
  • Previous experience teaching or supporting students with hearing impairments
  • Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for D/HH learners and familiarity with assistive technologies
  • Ability to adapt curriculum and provide individualized support to meet student IEP goals
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible classroom environment

Core Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement personalized educational plans for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Provide direct instruction both one-on-one and in classroom settings, modifying teaching methods as needed
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, interpreters, and related services to ensure student success
  • Participate in IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
  • Offer consultative support and training for staff to enhance accessibility and promote inclusion
  • Adapt and develop materials to accommodate varied communication needs, including American Sign Language or other modes
