Seeking a skilled professional to work with students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing within a supportive school environment near Olympia, WA. Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or eligibility for state licensure
- Previous experience teaching or supporting students with hearing impairments
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies for D/HH learners and familiarity with assistive technologies
- Ability to adapt curriculum and provide individualized support to meet student IEP goals
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, families, and school staff
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, accessible classroom environment
Core Responsibilities:
- Design and implement personalized educational plans for students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Provide direct instruction both one-on-one and in classroom settings, modifying teaching methods as needed
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, audiologists, interpreters, and related services to ensure student success
- Participate in IEP meetings and maintain thorough documentation of student progress
- Offer consultative support and training for staff to enhance accessibility and promote inclusion
- Adapt and develop materials to accommodate varied communication needs, including American Sign Language or other modes
