Make a lasting impact in the lives of students with hearing needs as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in the Chattanooga area! This full-time contract position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a dedicated team and empower students across multiple schools for the upcoming academic year, beginning August 5, 2026, and concluding May 19, 2027.

Ideal candidates are compassionate educators with specialized skills in deaf education, ready to adapt to varying assignments and caseloads as determined prior to the start of the school year.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Valid and active Department of Education certification specific to Deaf/Hard of Hearing instruction
  • Completion of required fingerprinting for credentialing
  • Previous experience working with K–12 students is highly valued
  • Expertise in differentiated instruction, accessible communication, and individualized program planning
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff, families, and related service providers
  • Strong advocacy and interpersonal skills

Primary Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct and consultative services to students who are deaf or hard of hearing across assigned schools
  • Develop, implement, and monitor progress on students’ Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Utilize appropriate assistive technology and communication modalities according to student needs
  • Partner with general education teachers and service teams to foster inclusive learning environments
  • Provide training and support for staff and families on hearing loss, technology, and instructional strategies
  • Maintain thorough records and communication in compliance with district and state guidelines
