Make a meaningful difference in students’ lives as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing! This contract opportunity calls for an educator skilled in supporting learners with hearing differences and passionate about fostering accessible, inclusive classrooms.

Key Qualifications/Experience:

  • Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state requirements must be met)
  • Experience working with K-12 students preferred
  • Strong understanding of assistive listening technology and auditory/oral communication techniques
  • Ability to create and modify lesson plans to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Collaborative mindset for working alongside teachers, specialists, and families

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Assess and monitor student progress using appropriate evaluative measures
  • Consult with general education staff to support classroom inclusion and differentiation
  • Assist in the selection and management of hearing assistive technology
  • Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including IEPs, progress reports, and parent communications
  • Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and advocate for students’ needs
  • Offer guidance to families regarding communication strategies and resources
