Key Qualifications/Experience:
- Certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (state requirements must be met)
- Experience working with K-12 students preferred
- Strong understanding of assistive listening technology and auditory/oral communication techniques
- Ability to create and modify lesson plans to meet individualized education program (IEP) goals
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Collaborative mindset for working alongside teachers, specialists, and families
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support tailored to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Assess and monitor student progress using appropriate evaluative measures
- Consult with general education staff to support classroom inclusion and differentiation
- Assist in the selection and management of hearing assistive technology
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including IEPs, progress reports, and parent communications
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and advocate for students’ needs
- Offer guidance to families regarding communication strategies and resources
