Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, or ability to obtain
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Deaf Education or closely related field
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language and familiarity with assistive technology
  • Experience working with K-12 students preferred
  • Collaborative spirit, adaptability, and strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of IEP procedures and best practices for differentiated instruction

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction tailored to students with hearing impairments in various educational settings
  • Collaborate with teachers, specialists, and families to support student achievement and inclusion
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans, track progress, and adjust interventions
  • Advocate for student needs, provide classroom accommodations, and support use of assistive devices
  • Deliver professional guidance to staff and families on hearing loss and communication strategies
  • Maintain accurate records and participate in team meetings to ensure cohesive student support
