Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • New York State certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing
  • Experience in educational settings with children or adolescents who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
  • Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and its integration into the classroom environment
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver instruction that accommodates students' language and learning preferences
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, specialists, and support staff
  • Monitor student progress, adapting strategies as needed to promote success
  • Advocate for student accommodations, inclusion, and access to resources
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices and educational technology
  • Complete and maintain essential documentation in compliance with school and state standards
