Desired Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in New York State
- Previous experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Strong knowledge of auditory devices, educational accommodations, and communication strategies
- Ability to adapt instruction to meet a variety of learning needs and styles
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Capacity to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and students
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and assess individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with hearing differences
- Provide direct instruction tailored to each student’s communication preferences and academic level
- Work closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Advocate for students and promote self-advocacy skills, fostering their independence and confidence
- Assist in evaluating students’ progress and adjusting strategies to maximize success
- Offer consultative support and resources to families and educational staff
