Desired Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in New York State
• Previous experience working with school-aged children who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Strong knowledge of auditory devices, educational accommodations, and communication strategies
• Ability to adapt instruction to meet a variety of learning needs and styles
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Capacity to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, parents, and students

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop, implement, and assess individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with hearing differences
• Provide direct instruction tailored to each student’s communication preferences and academic level
• Work closely with general education teachers and support staff to ensure appropriate accommodations and modifications
• Advocate for students and promote self-advocacy skills, fostering their independence and confidence
• Assist in evaluating students’ progress and adjusting strategies to maximize success
• Offer consultative support and resources to families and educational staff
