Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing by supporting learners in an engaging educational setting. This contract position is conveniently located near Owego, NY and runs throughout the 26/27 academic year, with a full-time schedule anticipated from early September 2026 to early June 2027. Work on-site within a collaborative team dedicated to providing an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid certification as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (TDHH)
  • Previous experience working in school settings or with children with hearing differences
  • Ability to effectively use various communication modalities, including sign language
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with parents, staff, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Creative instructional techniques tailored to individual student needs
  • Flexible, patient, and passionate about fostering student growth

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction and support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Develop and modify Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) tailored to each pupil’s unique needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create accessible learning materials and foster an inclusive setting
  • Advocate for student needs and facilitate communication between school, home, and support services
  • Monitor student progress and adjust strategies to optimize achievement
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and ongoing professional development as required
