An exciting opportunity awaits for a dedicated professional to serve students as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing on a part-time, contract basis. Support learners from PreK through age 22, providing essential instruction and advocacy that empower students to thrive in an educational setting. This position, located near Peabody, MA, runs for the 2026/2027 school year and offers 16-18 hours per week, allowing for a work schedule that balances other professional or personal commitments.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Current Massachusetts Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) certification required
- Experience supporting students with varying levels of hearing loss in educational environments, ideally across a broad age range
- Strong knowledge of communication strategies, assistive technology, and individualized instructional planning for DHH students
- Excellent collaborative skills to work with school staff, families, and service providers
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive, and engaging learning atmosphere
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and accommodations to Deaf/Hard of Hearing students from early childhood through transition-age youth (PreK-22)
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s unique needs and strengths
- Collaborate with general and special education teachers, related service providers, and families
- Assist in the selection and use of adaptive technologies or communication devices, ensuring access to the curriculum
- Contribute to IEP meetings and maintain thorough, accurate documentation and progress monitoring
