As a specialist, you’ll play an essential role in empowering students and collaborating with dedicated school teams to create an accessible learning environment. Your expertise will help ensure students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing thrive academically and socially.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Certification/licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH)
- Previous experience working in school settings with DHH students
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and instructional strategies for DHH learners
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering inclusive educational practices
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a consultant to teachers and staff, providing strategies and resources tailored to DHH student needs
- Support the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for DHH students
- Monitor student progress and provide evaluative feedback to educational teams and families
- Offer professional development sessions to staff regarding DHH best practices
- Advocate for accessible classroom environments and appropriate accommodations
- Facilitate communication between students, families, and educational staff to help students reach their goals
