Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience or training in auditory/oral, sign language, or total communication approaches
- Proven ability to collaborate with general education staff, families, and specialists
- Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Flexibility, adaptability, and a deep sense of advocacy for students’ needs
- Excellent communication skills, both in spoken and visual modalities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailored to individual strengths and needs
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure access to the general curriculum
- Develop, monitor, and update IEPs, progress reports, and necessary documentation
- Offer support and educational resources to families and staff, fostering a welcoming school community
- Advocate for student access, participation, and communication in all aspects of the school environment
- Utilize assistive technology, visual supports, and other resources to enhance learning opportunities
