Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid teaching certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
  • Experience or training in auditory/oral, sign language, or total communication approaches
  • Proven ability to collaborate with general education staff, families, and specialists
  • Strong skills in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and a deep sense of advocacy for students’ needs
  • Excellent communication skills, both in spoken and visual modalities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, tailored to individual strengths and needs
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure access to the general curriculum
  • Develop, monitor, and update IEPs, progress reports, and necessary documentation
  • Offer support and educational resources to families and staff, fostering a welcoming school community
  • Advocate for student access, participation, and communication in all aspects of the school environment
  • Utilize assistive technology, visual supports, and other resources to enhance learning opportunities
