Bring your expertise and passion for supporting students with hearing differences to a rewarding part-time role in the Philadelphia area. As a Teacher for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, you’ll work with elementary-age learners, making a meaningful impact on their educational journey from August through December 2026. This contract position allows you to truly focus on individualized support, with early dismissals on Mondays and Wednesdays, creating a schedule that balances professional fulfillment with personal flexibility.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
  • Demonstrated experience working with elementary students who are deaf or hard of hearing
  • Strong understanding of instructional techniques and educational strategies for students with hearing differences
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers, specialists, and families
  • Compassionate communicator, committed to fostering an inclusive classroom environment

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of 14-15 elementary students, delivering tailored instruction and support
  • Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in partnership with the educational team
  • Foster student growth in language, academic, and social-emotional development
  • Use assistive technology and visual communication tools to facilitate learning
  • Maintain clear documentation of progress and provide regular updates to families
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for best practices in deaf education within the school community
