Step into a rewarding contract position supporting students as a Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in Chester County, PA. This full-time assignment begins December 2026 and extends through June 2027, serving a diverse group of 34 students across multiple campuses. Working within the PK-12 age range, you’ll shape the educational journeys of students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing, collaborating closely with faculty and families to deliver specialized instruction and ensure every student thrives academically and socially.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Pennsylvania Deaf and Hard of Hearing K-12 Licensure (Instructional I or II) is required
- Prior experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing in a school setting is highly desirable
- Solid understanding of best practices for teaching students with hearing loss, including use of assistive technology and communication modalities
- Strong collaboration, organization, and communication skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative special education services to students with hearing loss, adapting curriculum and instruction for individual needs
- Travel between approximately 12 campuses to provide support and instruction
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers, educational specialists, and families to foster inclusive learning environments
- Monitor student progress, create Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals, and maintain accurate records
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding student achievements, needs, and adaptations
