As a considered Hearing Impaired teacher for the district, your collaboration will extend to working closely with a previous professional we placed, who will also be involved in the screening process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Alabama Teacher’s Certificate
- Ability to meet Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state requirements, or willingness to fulfill these within the set timeframe
- Appropriate licensure for Deaf/Hard of Hearing (DHH) teaching in Alabama
- Commitment to promoting accessible and inclusive learning environments
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver tailored instruction to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Create individualized learning materials and modify curriculum for accessibility
- Collaborate with classroom staff, families, and service providers to support student success
- Use assessment data to track progress and inform instruction
- Advocate for students’ needs and access to resources
- Participate in IEP meetings and document progress
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
