This full-time, onsite position offers the chance to work across K-12 settings in specialized hubs designed for supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing. The district is expanding, with established Pre-K and elementary centers and a new middle-school hub opening for the next school year.
Key Qualifications:
- Current, active Tennessee Department of Education certification in Deaf/Hard of Hearing education
- Experience providing instructional and consultative services to students aged K-12
- Strong collaboration skills to partner with educators, staff, and families
- Willingness to complete required fingerprinting as part of district onboarding
- Comfort adapting instructional strategies to meet student and setting needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized educational support to students who are deaf or hard of hearing, adjusting services based on evolving caseload needs
- Consult with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure students have appropriate access and accommodations
- Support a diverse caseload ranging from Pre-K through high school, with exact school assignments varying by student needs
- Maintain appropriate documentation, participate in IEP meetings, and contribute to positive student outcomes
- Stay current with best practices in deaf education and integrate new strategies as appropriate
This contract role encompasses 37.5 hours per week, following the school calendar from early August to late May, allowing for a balanced schedule and meaningful relationships with students and staff.
